About Me
I am a native El Pasoan, and I have always loved art! I attended Hanks High School and UTEP. My major was Graphic Design and my minor was Drawing. As part of my undergraduate work I took classes in the following art disciplines: Ceramics, Painting, Metals, Sculpture, and Illustration. I graduated from UTEP Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts.
I moved to California where I worked as a graphic designer for a cosmetics company and then as an art teacher for a private company. When I returned to El Paso, I received my teaching certification through UTEP's Alternative Teacher Certification Program. I have worked at Hornedo Middle School since 2008.
Art is a very important aspect of our culture. It is my hope that my students will have a greater appreciation for Art because of my class. I believe that every student can succeed in my class--if they are interested and they put forth the effort. I think that being a true observer to the world around us is the first step to both learning to draw, and to finding the beauty and visual value in the everyday objects all around us.
And I don't know if anyone ever reads this, but in case you want to know about my awesome pop culture interests...
A few of my favorite artists are: M.C. Escher, Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Vincent Van Gogh, Brian Froud, Alex Ross.
A few of my favorite musicians are: Radiohead, Pearl Jam, The Cure, Incubus, Tori Amos, Feist, St. Vincent, NIN, The Shins.
A few of my favorite movies are: Groundhog Day, The Big Lebowski, LOTR, Inception, Labyrinth, Princess Bride, and the MCU!
A few of my favorite tv shows are: Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, The X-Files, GOT, 30 Rock, and The Office.
